ReCentre is a welcoming, caring community in the heart of Sligo, sharing life together and helping people discover the hope and fullness of life found in Jesus.

The RECENTRE Story

We exist to share CHRIST'S LOVE IN SLIGO

The story of ReCentre began in 2017 with the launch of Sligo Centre of Mission, a partnership between Church Army and the Diocese of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh.



The work began with Alan Williamson, who spent those early years meeting people, building relationships and exploring new ways for faith and community to grow together. Without a permanent home, the Centre of Mission gathered in a variety of places and worked with people across Sligo through community activities, messy church, schools, churches and informal gatherings.

In 2021, we moved into 3 Mail Coach Road. This gave the work a place to call home, and ReCentre began to take shape as a worshipping community. We gathered on Sunday evenings, while also creating opportunities throughout the week for people of different ages and backgrounds to connect, explore faith and share life together.


Alan was joined by Hannah O’Neill in 2023 as Pioneer Evangelist. Over the years, the work has also been greatly enriched by interns, volunteers, local churches and many others who have shared in the life of the community. In 2025, Lizzie Kron joined the staff team as Pioneer Minister bringing a particular focus on youth and young adults, especially through our Alpha programs. 


Now, in 2026, we are excited to begin another chapter as ReCentre moves to John Street and develops as neighbours with the Sligo Cathedral Group. The places and people have changed over the years, but the heart of ReCentre remains the same: to create a welcoming community where people can belong, encounter the love of God, explore faith honestly and discover ways to live it out together.


What We Believe

At ReCentre, Jesus is at the centre of who we are and what we believe. We are part of the Church of Ireland and share the historic Christian faith expressed in the Creeds of the Church. We don't expect everyone who walks through our doors to have it all figured out; there is space here to ask questions, explore faith and discover more about God.


  • God

    We believe in one triune God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-who created us, loves us and invites us into relationship with him. God is not distant or disconnected from our lives; he is present, active and at work in the world today.

  • JESUS

    We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. Through his life, death and resurrection, Jesus reveals God's love for us and makes it possible for us to be forgiven, reconciled to God and given new life.

    We believe Jesus rose from the dead, is alive today and will one day return. Following Jesus isn't simply about believing certain things-it's an invitation to ReCentre our whole lives around him.

  • HOLY SPIRIT

    We believe the Holy Spirit is alive and active today. The Spirit draws us to Jesus, helps us become more like him, speaks and guides, gives gifts to God's people and empowers us to live out our faith.

    We want to be open to the Spirit's presence and leading. When we gather, we expect to encounter the living God and we pray expectantly for him to move in our lives.

  • THE BIBLE

    We believe the Bible is God's Word and is foundational for our faith and life. Through Scripture we discover the story of God's relationship with humanity, encounter Jesus and learn what it means to follow him.

    We seek to read the Bible prayerfully and thoughtfully, allowing it to shape what we believe and how we live.

  • GRACE AND NEW LIFE

    We believe God's love and grace are for everyone. None of us has it all together and none of us can earn our way to God.

    Through Jesus, God offers forgiveness, freedom and new life as a gift of grace, received through faith. As we follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit continues to transform us, helping us become more like Him.

  • The Church

    We believe the Church is God's family, made up of people from every background who have been brought together through Jesus.

    Church is more than a Sunday service or a building. We are called to worship together, pray, learn from Scripture, share life, celebrate Baptism and Holy Communion, care for one another and encourage each other as we follow Jesus.

  • GOD'S KINGDOM

    We believe God is at work renewing His world and that followers of Jesus are invited to be part of what he is doing.

    Jesus calls us to love our neighbours, care for those in need, seek justice, share the good news and serve our communities. We want our faith to make a real difference in our homes, workplaces, schools and across Sligo.

  • UNITY

    We believe we can do more for God’s Kingdom together than we can alone. We value unity across the Church and intentionally invest in ecumenical relationships, choosing collaboration over competition. We are grateful to partner with organisations including Alpha, Christ in Youth and Pioneer Ministry, working together to help people encounter Jesus, equip the next generation and explore new ways of sharing the Gospel in our community.

  • OUR ANGLICAN FAITH

    ReCentre is part of the Church of Ireland and the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and expressed through the historic Creeds of the Christian Church.

    Alongside Christians around the world and across the centuries, we seek to follow Jesus, worship God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-and share His love with the world.

Jesus and his good news are at the heart of everything we do.

We know we don’t have it all together, like everyone we mess up and have problems in our lives.  Because of this, we know we need Jesus' grace and help. We want the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to shape who we are, how we live and the hope we share with others. We use our words and actions to share this good news message of Jesus.
